Lower Lid Blepharoplasty
As we age, the skin loses its elasticity and firmness. In the lower eyelid area, this can lead to protruding fat deposits, bags under the eyes, dark circles or a tired appearance. A lower eyelid lift is designed to correct these age-related changes and creates a smooth, harmonious transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. This results in a fresh, rested and natural appearance.
Duration of the procedure
1 to 2 hours
Anaesthesia
Local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia
Stay
Outpatient
Post treatment
Remove stitches after 1 week, keep the area elevated, apply cold compresses
Recovery time
1 to 2 weeks
Key Information
A fresh and natural appearance achieved by reducing bags under the eyes, puffiness and dark circles, with virtually invisible scars.
Consultation
During a face-to-face consultation, the lower eyelid area – in particular the bags under the eyes – skin quality and the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek are carefully analysed. We work together to define your wishes and the optimal treatment strategy. You will also receive comprehensive information about the procedure, its effects, possible risks and the realistic outcome you can expect.
Preparation
On the day of the treatment, the eye area should be free of make-up. Following consultation with your doctor, any blood-thinning medication should be stopped or adjusted a few days before and after the procedure.
Surgery / Injection
Prior to the operation, the findings are carefully planned and marked out. Depending on the individual circumstances, access is gained either via a fine incision directly below the lash line or from the inside via the conjunctiva (transconjunctival). Excess fatty tissue is removed or redistributed, and the skin is tightened where necessary. The incision is then closed using fine sutures, ensuring that a discreet, barely visible scar remains.
Aftercare
The surgical site should be kept cool on a regular basis. The stitches are removed after around 5 to 7 days. Afterwards, the body should be allowed to rest sufficiently for around 1 to 2 weeks. Most patients are able to return to social activities once the swelling and discolouration have largely subsided. Sun protection should be used consistently during the healing phase.
Result
A smooth and harmonious transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, creating a fresh, revitalised and naturally rested appearance. The result appears to be long-lasting.
