Neck Lift

The neck is one of the first areas where visible signs of ageing appear. Over time, the skin, fatty tissue and muscles can become slack, causing the chin and neck contour to lose definition. This makes the profile appear less defined, and excess skin, platysma bands or a double chin may develop. By tightening the superficial and deep tissue layers, age-related changes can be specifically corrected and the chin and neck contour can be permanently redefined. In most cases, a combined procedure consisting of a facelift and neck lift is used.

Duration of the procedure

1 to 2 hours

Anaesthesia

General anesthesia

Stay

Outpatient or inpatient with 1 overnight stay

Post treatment

Remove the stitches after 1 week, keep the area elevated, apply cold compresses

Recovery time

1 to 2 weeks

Key Information

A well-defined chin and neck contour, smoothing of the platysma bands and a naturally rejuvenated appearance with barely visible scars

Consultation

During a face-to-face consultation, the neck area and the chin-to-neck contour are carefully assessed. Together, we will discuss your individual preferences and determine the optimal treatment strategy, deciding whether a neck lift on its own or in combination with a facelift is the most appropriate option. You will also receive comprehensive information about the procedure, its effects, potential risks and the realistic results you can expect.

Preparation

To ensure optimal wound healing, you should stop smoking for around four weeks before and after the operation. Following consultation with your doctor, blood-thinning medication should be stopped or adjusted a few days before and after the procedure. In addition, the treated area should be consistently protected from sunlight, which is why the daily use of sun cream is recommended.

Surgery / Injection

Depending on the findings, the tightening procedure is carried out either via a direct incision in the neck area or via discreet incisions at the hairline and behind the ear. During the procedure, the skin, fatty tissue and muscles are specifically tightened to achieve a defined and natural chin-to-neck contour. If necessary, the operation can also be combined with liposuction or regenerative treatments to improve skin quality and address volume loss.

Aftercare

A standalone neck lift can usually be carried out on an outpatient basis, meaning you can go home the same day. Afterwards, you should allow your body plenty of rest for around 1 to 2 weeks and cool your face regularly. Most patients are back to their normal social lives after around 7 to 10 days. You should ensure you use sun protection consistently during the healing phase.

Result

A firm neck with a clearly defined chin-to-neck line and a naturally harmonious appearance that does not look like the result of surgery.
