Abdominoplasty

With advancing age, following one or more pregnancies, and after significant weight loss, the skin and soft tissues in the abdominal area may become saggy. This often results in excess skin and a change in body contour. A tummy tuck removes excess skin, tightens the abdominal wall and can also correct a separation of the abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis). This results in a flatter and more defined abdominal contour with a harmonious body silhouette.

Duration of the procedure

2.5 hours

Anaesthesia

General anesthesia

Stay

Outpatient or inpatient with 1 to 2 nights

Post treatment

Sutures removed after 2 weeks, compression bandage worn for 6 weeks

Recovery time

2 weeks

Key Information

To define the abdominal contours, tighten the abdominal wall and correct any rectus diastasis.

Consultation

During a personal consultation, we will assess the excess skin, the abdominal wall, rectus diastasis and body contour, as well as any existing functional limitations. Together, we will discuss your wishes and determine the most suitable treatment plan. I will provide you with comprehensive information about the procedure, the scar pattern, potential risks and the expected outcome.

Preparation

It is essential that you have reached your healthy target weight before undergoing body contouring surgery such as a tummy tuck. We recommend that your weight has been stable for several months prior to the operation. To ensure optimal wound healing, you should stop smoking around four weeks before the operation. Blood-thinning medication should be stopped or adjusted a few days before the procedure, following consultation with your doctor.

Surgery / Injection

Marking out the excess skin and fatty tissue, as well as the hidden incision line in the underwear area, prior to the operation. These areas are then removed and, if necessary, the abdominal wall is further tightened (correction of rectus diastasis). The navel is repositioned to look natural. The result can also be optimised through liposuction. During the operation, an abdominal band is applied and the bed is tilted slightly to ensure that as little tension as possible is placed on the abdominal wall.
